5th Dynasty King Sahura and a Nome God from his
Royal-Cult temple at Abusir, c.2487-2475 BC.
Sahure, the second king of the 5th dynasty, sits on
a throne while, standing next to him, the smaller figure of the god of
the Nome extends an ankh (the symbol of life). The god is named by
the symbols carved above his head, and Sahure's names are located on the
front of his throne and on the base are the remains of a speech by the
god, promising Sahure the good things of the south.
